| I can't wait to see this nice old Sears come to life again. It is exactly what I started out with for the General, and I just like the look of these things. It's a 1980, or close. For what it's worth, I don't think the thread is titled correctly. These units were branded "Sears" with no sign of "Craftsman" anywhere. I got mine on a pretty good deal- a co-worker's father-in-law sold it to me for $120- ran, drove, mowed. Just needed a bit of carb tweaking. I will NEVER do that again- lesson learned. people! If you want to build a legitimate racer, don't start with a perfectly good tractor. It's heartbreaking. All those good parts- into the proverbial scrap bin! I can tell you from personal experience that the hood is a bit narrow, and fitting an opposed twin in there won't just be a drop-in affair. I had to do a cut-out on each side of my hood to clear the top corners of the blower housing. | |

| Stretch's tractor is pretty much the same thing... It fit an opposed, and later a V-twin briggs, fine. The hood is pretty stuffed, but it closes.
That tractor will be bad ass, I'm sure! | |

| tractors are still branded and produced and stickered from different companys. my 06 husqvarna is made by AYP, has a sears/ roebuck manufacture tag on it, and branded husqvarna! i went to sears for blades, and you now them "always gotta assist" even if i tell em to frigg off! he asked "what style blade" i said 5 star. he says "are you sure, our new ones are made by MTD which are 6 star. the older and new big garden tractors are made by husqvarna".. its all a cluster-stuck of manufacturers and stickers.. same product, branded 30 different ways | |

| didn't get as much done as i wanted, been cleaning up the shed trying to find all the bolts i need with not much luck, but i did take apart the the mst-205 that wouldn't shift and got it working now, but ima go on and lock it before i reassemble it, what was causing it not to shift is that it had a bad seal on it and got dust and water trough into it and then the oil hardened somehow lol i had to put a wire brush in the drill to get it all off, im going to put the nutbuster back on it for simplicitys sake. | |

| With a deal like that going on, I'd be putting up ads all over the places for scrap/junk mowers for free or even maybe $20. Pick them up, scalp what you want, bring them to your scrap guy, and totally clean him out of anything good. | |
