ok, I think doc has an adjustable carb on his racer, that is what I was looking for to see the difference between the two.

Yup, i have the same carb but its off a 16hp oppsed for my opposed. Its pre-EPA (first gen or close to opposed engine) and they have adjustable main jets. im not sure if they sell one for your single.

Looks like its leaking...

that is cause it is sitting out in the rain.

I added a tempature gaige to my mower tommarow I will test it out. it screwed right in a stock hole in the head.

that thermometer would be good for my quad. air cooled honda, ive overheated it a few times

yes, it is off of a char-broil grill that my grandpa threw away cause it was rusting away. so I saved the thermomiter.

theres one of them in the woods next door... i wonder if it still has the thermometer in it

PURE GENIUS!  I'm going to get me one of those too.  That way I'll know when my Engine-baked hot dogs are done.

Hopefully I didn't sound too sarcastic. I think this is an awesome idea and I can't wait to see how it works!    Can you give us a reading from fully warmed up and idling -to- right after a good romp?

sure thing!

it worked! it got up to 300 degees f going up hills and smashing brush when I was making trails and mudding. once it warmed up it stayed at 300.

dont know if that is a safe temp for it to run at tho lol......most cars stay under that

Pre-heat to 300, insert lunch and romp for 10-15 minutes or until meal is fully cooked.

Seems about right. They run pretty hot. Ever spit on a flathead? TSSSSS!!!

it runs fine and it was 30 degres outside so it will run hotter in the summer. stock it would run way hotter cause it wouldn't have as much air going over the fins to cool it off. thanks for the compliment Ariens!

How did you get more air to pass through your fins?

oh, I did a pulley swap so it goes 3 times faster than stock, so more air is going over the cooling fins.

That doesn't make any sense.  Pulley swaps affect how the trans spins, not the motor..

the mower is going faster than before, so there is more air cooling the engine.
