hey guys awhile back i got a self propelled honda push mower for free with a bent crank. i wanted something me and my friend could screw around on in my small back yard at home in the city, so i stated to build it into a little gokart, the deck was caste iron so i had some troubles but it worked out and i made steering and you just sit on the motor, and didnt go fast at all maybe walking speed but was fun and pulled some massive wheelies. started off like this
we mudded it
a realy good wheely
well the steering is all screwed up on it and the tires were small and it didnt do worth shit in the snow and not so great in the mud so i started building a mini gokart awhile back and had the frame all built. i put two and two together and started building the monster pushmower gokart.
the back ale mock up 5hp honda the driveshaft
the full conversion is almost complete. it went from little 6 inch tires to 15,s it has a 3 speed gearbox and goes faster with the 15's on it now. im gonna fab up a deck and put fenders and make a little hood for it so it will look like a mini tractor. im gonna offroad it and it does about stock tractor speed so i wont get too left behind when we all go mudding let me know what you think

That is pretty cool - something to mess around with. Reminds me of an article in Popular Mechanics - these two freinds used an old shopping cart and added lawntractor wheels with a 9HP honda motor and made a wheelie machine. Whole thing cost less then $100 to build.
I wouldve never thought of something like that - im surprised the stock push mower drive wheels had any traction at all . An upgrade could be adding 4 AG tires to it and make it a mini monster.

Oddly enough, looking at it, it has nearly the same setup as an ATV- motor is just in front of you, partially underneath . I bet if you turned the motor sideways so the shaft drive is to the side, youd be able to hook either a sprocket or go kart clutch to it and run a straight rear axle , along with being able to change gear ratios.

actualy, that wouldnt work that great, that shaft coming out of the side is a little small, and i think it doesnt spin as fast as the bottom shaft does, and if i did turn it sideways and used sprockets, id only have one gear im not looking to go fast, im just looking for a small tractor look alike to romp on if all else is broke, if you know what i mean

but what i was thinking of putting a sprocket on that shaft above the i put on the tranny and putting a sprocket on that to get a lower gear ratio to get more speed, but today the clutch engagement is starting to grip real hard and you bring them front tires off the ground sometimes even if you lean forward really far

hey guys, I have broken the drive shaft on it as you h=guys might have seen on my videos and i cant seem to get the coupler that attaches to the input shaft on the the rearend, so i was thinking of putting a 3hp side shaft motor onto it with some sort of homemade gearbox with reverse and a live axle to run 18 inch tires on it. i would gear it to have a speed a little bit faster than what it is now, if anyone has an idea to build a gear box, gear system that runs side shaft to side shaft give me ideas or what you think

the first part of that video was sped up but it was still good at donuts in the snow, it only went like 5 mph but was really fun

I would probably speed mine up to about 15 or 20 mph and make some brakes for the front for burn outs in the mud. Got any ideas for me since you've done one before??
