Dougs Craftsman "Rally" V2 - "Trail Dominator"

Yessssssssssss, this extension is just what I needed.

I am making another "rally" tractor, essentially making it what the first Rally was intended to be.

Starting out with a basic AYP Craftsman frame with NO PLASTIC on it, including the dash. Mods will be:

16hp Opposed Twin Briggs and Stratton
-Custom true dual straight pipes

Peerless 820-040 transaxle
-4on4 hubs
-23" rear tires on a 10x7 rim
-Oil lube
--Vent

Front axle from a GT, including rims
-tires?

Reinforce steering system

New electrical
-NO SPAGHETTI

340cca battery

Front bumper
-2000lb winch
-Additional lighting?

Rear bumper

Gonna be a squeeze but I actually intend to have it done before the 10th of August. So I technically have less than a month. Wish me luck!

At the U-pull. $50, bumper included. Seems high considering its just the body, but its not in terrible shape and its just what I wanted.

It does kinda, I didnt notice it till I took the pic lol. I have some banging out to do, need to get me a rubber hammer.

Whats LMM's? I hate to admit it but im not totally caught up on the build off participants.

Same mower. Like, exact same thing. How much did it weigh? at my junkyard, that seems about right, thinking that's like 60-80lbs.

Little enough that I could toss it around like a doll but still need help to put it on the trailer it sits on now. Send me a digital scale and ill weight it for ya.

Put on a bathroom scale. Thats how im gunna weigh the mini anyways.

I dont have a bathroom scale. The one we have are the ones with counterweights and a measuring thingamabob like you see in doctors offices.

So I got to work today tearing this poor bastard apart:



Front axle from it will be going on the Rv2TD, the dash (and probably the direct steering setup) on the Rv1, and the rest for a rainy day. Forgot to grab a picture of just the axle. Oh well.

So, ran into an issue already...









Gonna have to do some hacking. Tomorrow though, im off today. GT is fully torn down too, the axle looks like itll bolt right in so all I need to do is reinforce the frame since its a cutout.

Thanks! This had a 11hp single and a 5 speed (probably a Spicer, wasnt on when I got it).

Im off all this week, dying at work gives me no go to do anything. So ill get to it this weekend, I have a TSC list.

Looks like you have a solid game plan. Thoughs on what you will do to the hood? id hate to see it to badly cut or bruised up

I might mod the GT hood sides and use them so I can "expand" the Rv2 sides a bit.

Updates!

Got my tires and rims yesterday for the rear. And then what I thought would happen, happened. The tires are too skinny for these fat-arse rims. No way to seal the bead and run them tubeless unless I tube them first and then take the tube out and then put a new valve stem in.

Uhh....

No. So, I ordered a set of tubes for the rears with the special valve stem thats threaded to prevent tube movement. Hopefully that fixes it and the tires dont look ridiculous on the rims, or else I might have to find a trailer rim and new hubs to fit it.

The 4on4 hubs I ordered from BMI were backordered. Aww. BUT! I got a call a few days after placing it and they upgraded me to the powdercoated ones for free (a whole $2 value!). So I got that going for me, should be here next week.

Ordered 5 axle seals for the 820, 2 on each side of the needle bearings and 1 spare just in case. Well... they also got backordered. Email I got said a 10-15 day turnaround until they restock them. Ew, no.

Tore into the 820 today, cause im impatient. Took video, and it uploaded out of sync. Will have to try again. Anyways, its getting fozzy locked, new seals, new reverse chain, oil lube, and vented.

Ordered a 407 piece kit of Orings, and it had 1" ID x 1/8" thickness orings, which seem to be close to Peerless spec. It was cheaper for all 407 than it was for the 5 Peerless OEM. What the hell. Oh well, I can restock what I use, if what I get works.

All in all, its gonna be a busy week next week. I have stuff in the works for a gas pedal that doesnt use a moped brake. Hue.

Well, its only held on with one bolt. The collars were like $3.50 for two, so it would be easy to remove.

We both do. I have 2 weeks from today to have this running and moving so I can take it upstate lol.
