The machines themselves are good for hobbyist work. The greatest bit of advice I can give you, is to deep-six the shotty chinese wire that comes with it, and buy a spool of name brand wire like Lincoln, Miller, Hobart, etc. I'm all for saving money, but this really does make a difference. A big one.
yea i've seen where people say not to use the cheap wire that comes with it and use name brands like u mentioned
Voice of experience. I was plugging away on a project one day and ran out of wire. Nearly broke, I went out and bought a spool of the cheap stuff. bad move. I burnt MAYBE 2 feet of it, before ripping the spool out of my machine and lobbing it straight into my scrap bin. Garbage.

Lincoln wire works good, good solid clean welds but hobalt wire is probably the best wire to use, Its alittle tough to use at frist but once you get the hang of it, it does great, Stronger welds, better penetration, better heat and it has a better flux coating and actually does its job. Lincon wire it good but hobalt is the best. It cost about 5 bucks more but its worth it.
