Id like to take a trip down/over where them pigs are a problem and go for a hunt. Seems like that would be fun.

Fun as itd be to nail a big boar, the smaller ones apparently taste alright.

Well. Pulled one of the mtds up to the house and put gas in it and it was pouring out the pcv breather on the other side of the carb. Then fired it up and found out it has some valve issues . Blowing just as much out of the intake as the exhaust ! Needs some help apparently.

Do you think the valve guides or seals are worn out so it’s burning a ton of oil?

No oil problems.... it's blowing air back out the carb , the carb is louder than the exhaust .

That sorta sounds like a bad intake valve seat to me.

Is it ohv? Something nice about an ohv engine, you can swap a new head on it and be good to go. We had an 18 horse oppy with pristine cylinder bores but the steel valve seats came out and was binding in the valves so the engine was rendered junk. Shame too, really clean and good compression

It has good compression. Yes it is an ohv, I took off the valve cover and just messed around a bit . One was really loose and one was really tight, tweaked it a bit but didn't use a feeler gauge and it runs slightly better now. I will see about getting them tuned right tommorrow and if it still runs bad I will take off the head and see what the valves look like. I could swap another engine in it from another Mtd but I kinda want to keep this one stock to sell it easier.

business cards can make good feeler gauges, better than nothing

I have two sets of feeler gauges, so no business cards needed lol , is 5 /1000ths a good gap?

Business cards are great for setting coil air gaps if you don't have a feeler gauge handy.

You really should look up the valve lash. Usually it's around .010-.012

I'd say .005 not .050. That's a ton of valve lash.
