Ya my full size Chevy blazer tube buggy is no where near a rock bouncer but it gets the job done. The crazy thing is these mowers give the exact same off road thrill.

So what rear are you going to be using then, the old one? Did you ever pull it apart and see what broke with your locker? I was thinking you could just clean any pieces out, re-weld, and just use the old trans for a while as long as it's still mostly intact. It's not like it's going to hurt it if it's already been hammered on. Of course I can't remember what hubs and rims fit what or how much modifying you would have to do.

Has a 930 5 speed in it right now. took the back tires off and they are now the front. Old juek front tires are on the back with no bushings in them to move it around still, so i have no rims/tires with a 3/4" keyed shaft to use. Once i get it out and dont need it ill see what broke.

Whats going in:
5 speed 820 with tranny mounts from a murray GT, like 3/16 thick.
new tires on new 10" rims that you've seen (gold ones)

I really want to stick a live axle in this like stretch did... I think i might have someone i know on FB to bore out the two "plates" that bolt from the axles to the bull gear, and key them, and ill just buy a go kart axle, im not really sure. Or ill just get the EC locking kit with Christmas money and it'll go in later. Err, not sure, but i want the rear to be as wide as the front.

I am facing the same situation with mine. My tires stick waayyy in under the fenders and it is really squirrely for the 30 seconds that I drove it. I have a 1" axle that is keyed. Just need to bore out the hubs and make a keyway or get a kit and use the axle for something else. Either way I'll need some cash to make it happen.

It's such a shame E.C. Carbs doesn't sell the 820 live axle kit bull gear "plates" would save me a lot of time... Choose my axle width too...

Go on Google images and type in "peerless 820-017." Check that diff out. All you need is a keyed 1" axle. But with that you also need that gear/shaft that it connects to. I found that when I was looking for speedy up kits for my 820. If they still make them you should be able to purchase them at your local Tecumseh dealer today... Razz

Good for racing but not for me (prices like $200+) I dont need to speed it up, i just want a kart axle in it so its wider in the rear slightly, and i can stick my snowmobile brake rotor on.

I know. But they use a solid gear with a 1" bore and keyway that fastened right to your axle. Poof no more diff. Just need to get a gear big enough with the right teeth onto it.

Still waiting on rear tires (UGH) so I made new exhaust.

Old exhaust to refresh yo mind. Pretty restrictive, and when submerged, makes one hell of a water park.
MTD off-road romper build. - Page 31 10884710

Then i just cut the old one, and modified the others flange. Got a tight bend from the mini mowers old handle bar's. Worked out better then i could of asked.

Next part, thats right, cut out. Im in town so this will be the first time this 42ci will be silenced. Made from a snowmobile carb butterfly and mower choke cable.
MTD off-road romper build. - Page 31 10884610

That welded onto the second half.

Rest of the second half. Push mower mufflers with ***** welds because they were really thin.

Tucks up really good. Lots of room for front tires still and no ground clearance lost. will patch the holes where the old pipes came out.

Also- thanks to stretch and TRB from here making the original setup that gave me this ides.

If I had the patience to grind welds smooth like that I might be able to stay on one thing more than 2 minutes. Fits nice under the running board. When your foot starts to slide around easy when your driving, you know your shoe is melting.

Soon as i saw yours i wanted mine like that. Only thing i was worried about was loosing the "duals" sound, and i can say now that it hast gone anywhere, sounds the same. Maybe a hair louder. Not sure if i would have thought it out how you guys did, so its nice you got something proven and stupid simple. cyclops

Nice job. Little bit simpler to build. SOMEBODY had to make his more complicated.

Yours still sounds stock with the mufflers. Dan's is stupid quiet, engine makes more noise than the exhaust. Probably because we used a generator muffler.

yea, I didn't want to run mine out the back or have the room for the big muffler. The cans I got on it now are quiet enough for my book.

Yeah, my projects are pretty much on hold until I can get a welder to work with... Only a minor inconvenience. Ha.
