Your first mower

Afternoon everyone, while browsing through the photos on my PC I came across a few of my first mower, a 1998 Rally 12hp 5 speed, and from the dates of the photos, it was on the 5th October 2011 for (I think) £180.












It later got scrapped because it was so rotten, but I still have part of the frame, rims and tyres, engine and gearbox and a few other bits like the steering wheel and clutch.

So, what was your first mower? Post some pics as well

Mine was my MTD, now known as the Mobile Terrain Dominator.

Got it for free from a guy I know. I've had her for a few years. Not much done to it, minor engine work, vari-drive slightly modified, front bumper and tow hooks, heavy duty drawbar, utility rack etc. She still loves mudding and rock climbing!

Cool mower man. Is the F-N-R transaxle locked?

Thanks! Nope, not yet at least. Even still it's unbelievable what she'll go through (or over), maybe someday I'll end up locking it.

The first mower I ever got was my craftsman mid engine mower like this one:

First mower was/is my 1966 sears, got it from my high school shop teacher. I've done a lot of small modifications that such as new paint, headlights, the brush/tow bar, a clip inside the frame for the pull start handle so it doesnt get muddy it's an unlocked diff but usually spins posi in mud.

Sometimes. I usually just push mow the yard. Last time I went to use it it ran like the choke was on and when I went to start it after I cleaned the carb, it was hydrolocked. Once I drained the gas out of the cylinder, an electrical gremlin came up and I just pushed it to the shed.

Man if you could ever get the hold of a Craftsman square body hood and square fenders your CQ would look sooooo good.

I want a full square body. Their frames are stronger. The CQ is just a stamped frame.

Yeah fair enough. I'm also on the lookout for one they're badged as Rallys here and are green or red.

I do believe it's a 6 horse but it feels like a lot more

I finally got to work on my first rider that since I was a kid. But now I know a lot more tricks n have more tools that will be the right tool for the job. I'm looking to make my rider an all around use in the yard and on the trail.

100% honest that's really cool that you still have that, about how long have you owned that one (Grampa right?)

My dad bought new in 75. Old Tecumseh engine bit it in 89. I repowered in 2015. I was pretty much the sole user since 87. Fully mine since 15.
