MTD Lawnflite belt sizing help

hey guys. need a belt for my 95 mtd lawnflite. cant see the numbers on the old one. the local harware store has lots of in stock but i need a size. it looks to be a 5/8 belt? can someone confirm that for me ?
and if someone would know the corect lenght it would be great too.

You should be able to measure the width with a tape measure. Yours must have two belts does it?

Yes, theyre both 5/8". I had bought new belts before but unfortunately I dont know the sizes anymore. If you have the mowers model number, look it up on partstree.com.

yes it does have two belts. the sticker with the serial numbers is gone long time ago.

All else fails, you said you had a local shop and you are changing it anyways. Take the old one with you and match it up. Very Happy

Yeah that's probably a good idea. They might even have one of those belt measuring tools and they could tell you the length.

its worn out pretty bad though. it may messure out 1/2 inch to 1 inch longer? i know right now the belt only ingauges in 6th gear. i have nothing in 1-5

Sounds about right. Worst case scenario you return or exchange them. But generally they dont stretch too much on account of the kevlar cording.
