Subject: The Bullet proof, Indestructable, Off Road Pedal Car. Mon Mar 04, 2013 8:45 am
My younger brother wanted a pedal car he could ride around the farm with. He was looking at one from Tractor supply that was $200! The ratings weren't good and it seems flimsy. So I made him a deal: I would make him a one-of-a-kind Pedal car that was indestructible, tough as nails, and off road in return for the ATV frame he bought from me. The deal was struck and I've started in it yesterday. It's coming nicely. Getting some very good welding practice. Using angle iron and welding them them to make a box frame. IT will be belt driven using many of the old parts form my tractor. A cool thing about this thing is it's stout enough to eventually add an engine later on. This is my currant progress.

Looks good so far. Thats a nice long solid weld. The frame sure is strong enough.

Yeah Those pedel karts at TSC are $200 buck my dad bought my brother one and the steering wheel broke off so i made a new bracket for it and the steering wheel has not broke of yet but the new bracket is alot better than the old one. I dont realy care for TSC pedel karts i rather build one.

I figured that. I used the box frame method like our tractors have. It's surprisingly light.

I'm not sure, but I believe it's thicker than my tractor fame's metal. There is a spare tire bracket welded to the bottom that's even thicker to add more rigidity. That's the thing sticking out the back that will be the hitch. You can see it to the right on the first pic.

Looks good. If you had a bike you could make it chain drive, then make mounts for a horizontal shaft engine.

If you were in Va, than I'd do it for hundred or two. well I might have, but that would be kinda weak spot as bike chain isn't too strong. Plus I would have to buy a clutch, sprocket, and chain. I figured I'd just use what I got. Plus the belt can serve as your clutch with an engine.

Bonus! the engine can act as a parking brake for the pedal part. Just need a way to lock the clutch pedal for pedal operation.

Yeah I was thinking just he same except use belts instead. All I'd have to do is mount the engine, attach the clutch pulley, and go. If he wants pedals, just take everything off and attach the pedals back on and go.

I am working on one today but it wont be unloaded for a couple of days as there is other things I need to film that I haven't had chance to do yet. Life gave me some lemons, so I've had to deal with that. All will be revealed in the video...my tractor has not been touched since my last video

OK folks, time to awaken this post form the dead. I have been making solid progress on the pedal car and will be finished up here in the next weekend. I will try to post pics of it soon, but that might not happen. I've been pedaling it back and forth in the garage. All that's left is steering and brakes. Stay tuned.

OK everyone. Last update as it has been finished. I'm going let the pics explain. Cruses at about 5 MPH.Not shown is the ATV fenders we added on the back later on. I have one happy bro. He's now taken over the rest of the work by customizing it the way he likes.
