| i have been contracting with my granddad for about 8 years now, and i have always bought my own tools. most of my hand tools being craftsman, and most(all as in most) being DeWalt. i had a ryobi 18 volt drill about 3 years ago, trying to save a bit of money, and it lasted all of about 6 months with moderate use contracting in harsh conditions. i have had my 18 volt dewalt drill for about 6 years now. you can tell it has had it's use, but still works great. my 8 year old impact driver finally crapped out on me, it has gotten rained on countless times, gotten hot just as many, and still ran well up untill last week when the pins holding the planetary gears finally snapped. i just picked up a 20 volt max kit with the impact driver for $200, and while it still brand new, i love it! has more torque than the makita equivalent, and a few more max rpm's. i also have a drywall screwdriver by dewalt, and even though the handle is cracked and the nose cone is missing, and drywall dust is caked inside, it still works!my granddad has an oilless dewalt 5 gallon air compressor that is still running strong after 12 years( according to him). my granddad, father, and stepdad all have an 18 volt 4 piece dewalt kit (drill, 2 saws, flashlight) that are almost 20 years old and still working. all in all, the deWalt name owes me absolutley nothing, and i am 100% happy with their cordless and corded line of tools. | |

| I have the dewalt 18v 1/2 drill and there 1/2 impact also got their impact sockets. Both work great and have plenty of power. If you where to get any power tool I would try to stick to the same voltage and the same make so you can use one batter across all of your devices. | |
