| I have some relatives in that area, it sounded like it got pretty bad Shooting back up to the stacked pulley idea i do think it's possible, and have wondered a good way to try it but only with 2 speeds and two whole belts instead of swapping the belt up and down, my idea was to have two opposite ratios like a 7 to 5 inch then a 5 to 7 inch front rear stacked setup, then a clutch for each set and two clutch pedals each with a lock down mechanism. So the low ratio for getting going then lock out the first clutch and engage the secound one. There of course are many issues bit hey, it's an idea | |

There of course are many issues bit hey, it's an idea everything starts with an idea, and I could actually see how that would work, maybe if you was to set it up so low drive was activated by pressing the clutch like on some of the old huffy mini mowers, it would act like a standard clutch and release the high speed belt, and when you switched to high you released the clutch, which would also release the low speed belt, this would eliminate the need for the lock outs and multiple clutch pedals, sort of like the old model t transmission was set up, it could easily be set up so when you partially depressed the clutch both belts released and you could use a separate brake to stop, you could even use the clutch setup to slow down from higher speed to turn or stop and use your brakes less, or for steep down hills where you would normally down shift. | |

| Yeah it would be a very useful setup for sure. One of my recent and quick builds that I didn't 2ant contest a thread about: did a simple and clean wiring job, 7 inch front and 5.5 inch rear pulley, double clutch, ungovenred kohler that was on my first John Deere and then the murray and now this, hits over 27mph but outbthe phone away after that as driving one handed on a muddy road was kinda sketchy. | |

| I really think that double pulley would be an effective high and low mechanism. That would be really cool to see it done | |

| RatherBeWelding did a similar thing. Just with a sprocket drive. He had 2 sprockets and 2 chains running back to the same axle, and when he wanted to shift gears he had some way to remotely move the key back and forth, and lock up one of them. The rest of the time the other one is just free wheeling. | |

| I've watched a couple of his videos, but not many, I would like to see it done myself, but it would require someone with better skills than me to do it and a working welder since mine decided to stop feeding wire , I've narrowed it down to either the trigger or circuit board in between the trigger and feed motor, just haven't gotten around to stripping it down to find out which yet | |
