A little fun fact for those who don't know YERF DOG. is the creators last name spelled backwards Godfrey ! That is pretty cool! Beautiful day today so I got some parts painted without fear of runs! ![[FINALIST] - MightyRaze's Project Patriot [2019 Build-Off Entry] - Page 3 03161911](https://i.servimg.com/u/f86/19/98/54/71/03161911.jpg) Wrapping up the engine. Still a little more to do. ![[FINALIST] - MightyRaze's Project Patriot [2019 Build-Off Entry] - Page 3 03161912](https://i.servimg.com/u/f86/19/98/54/71/03161912.jpg) Made a bracket to mount the rack and pinion. ![[FINALIST] - MightyRaze's Project Patriot [2019 Build-Off Entry] - Page 3 03161914](https://i.servimg.com/u/f86/19/98/54/71/03161914.jpg) Tacked the bolts down and then later painted it up. ![[FINALIST] - MightyRaze's Project Patriot [2019 Build-Off Entry] - Page 3 03161913](https://i.servimg.com/u/f86/19/98/54/71/03161913.jpg) Give the air breather some love and I think the engine is ready! I also got the rack done, I will see about installing it tomorrow if I can find some front wheels. ![[FINALIST] - MightyRaze's Project Patriot [2019 Build-Off Entry] - Page 3 03161910](https://i.servimg.com/u/f86/19/98/54/71/03161910.jpg) Then on top of that, I got 2 of the 3 HVAC Air Door Actuator Heater Blend Door Levers replaced on the Impala today as well. I had to replace the driver side and the inner passenger side.

That steering is going to be a huge upgrade over any stock setup. Yeah I got 3 of them. You can just make out the other two in the pile o stuff in the garage next to that grey pan. Later this summer I am going to put one in my 77 Hydro Suburban. A few more pix out of the garage. I did find that my toe is out a bit. I'm happy because fixing that is way easier than still toe in. It will just be a matter of adjustment and not cutting. :-) ![[FINALIST] - MightyRaze's Project Patriot [2019 Build-Off Entry] - Page 3 03181914](https://i.servimg.com/u/f86/19/98/54/71/03181914.jpg) ![[FINALIST] - MightyRaze's Project Patriot [2019 Build-Off Entry] - Page 3 03181913](https://i.servimg.com/u/f86/19/98/54/71/03181913.jpg) I also went ahead and slapped my belt on it and see if there will be any other issues with that. The lower belt keeper is hitting the belt. I can just readjust that around further to the back and be good. ![[FINALIST] - MightyRaze's Project Patriot [2019 Build-Off Entry] - Page 3 03181915](https://i.servimg.com/u/f86/19/98/54/71/03181915.jpg) I originally thought the belt would hit this brace but it does not. I will however go ahead and remove the lip and smooth it out anyways. ![[FINALIST] - MightyRaze's Project Patriot [2019 Build-Off Entry] - Page 3 03181916](https://i.servimg.com/u/f86/19/98/54/71/03181916.jpg) Other than those 2 things, I should be good belt wise.

Belt will be super "tool-less" easy to change out on this rig now. The more I mess with it I wish it was built up like Kal just for the sturdy easy simplicity of it. I can change the belt on this in like 30 seconds to the 30+ minutes it takes on Kal and that is with the original cut out. Actually they are the tires I had on this tractor before the Sasquatch build. I did a traction experiment and put them on my running suburban to see if it would help. It didn't offer any noticeable difference in traction. Here is a comparison as I was building Sasquatch ![[FINALIST] - MightyRaze's Project Patriot [2019 Build-Off Entry] - Page 3 Img_2011](https://i.servimg.com/u/f11/19/56/75/89/img_2011.jpg) ![[FINALIST] - MightyRaze's Project Patriot [2019 Build-Off Entry] - Page 3 03181913](https://i.servimg.com/u/f86/19/98/54/71/03181913.jpg)

| Yeah the horizontal shaft motor to a horizontal shaft trans is a very simple and robust setup, it’s very easy to modify and repair on the fly, Once you go horizontal it’s hard to go back | |

| Crazy thing.. the tractor was a horizontal originally. It was oriented like @AllisKidD21's GT6000 but with a briggs. I wanted to keep it horizontal but could never find an engine for like 5 years. I opted to convert vertical then 3 horizontal engines drop in my lap. Now I am going back horizontal but turning it 90° from stock. To flow more like the old suburban or your wheel horse. A way that makes sense. | |

| So new issue that may pan out to be good. So I moved the belt keeper on the clutch and now the belt sides now rub together pretty hard. To fix, I will need to add an idler. Adding an Idler will require me to move that brace for factory steering. So,,, I was thinking Move that brace down out of the way and mount an adjustable idler to it for the belt? In the end, this could be a great thing should the belt stretch. It also takes out some issues I was starting to think about with my new steering shaft. | |

Definitely. Not sure I described the issue properly. The belt in the clutch rubs the bottom side belt routing.
