I’m no expert but they are fundamentally different processes. TIG has shielding gas while stick doesn’t IIRC

Stick is ARC welding where you shove power through a rod aka anode. TIG is Tungsten Inert Gas where you use a Tugnsten tipped grip that also supplies the shielding gas and you use a filler rod to fill, it takes the most amount of skill of all 5 types of welding and Carl is layin' down pretty nicely!

My excitement is peaked for this build! I got the step key made for the trans pulley, the engine mounted and used the engine as a lathe lol to face off one side of the engine pulley to help with alignment.

Wow, I love that tractor. I gave my Dad’s Power King to a friend. Wish I had it back now.
So, did you use an angle grinder as the ‘lathe’ tool? Run the engine and grind...?

That 18hp Duromax is looking pretty snazzy in there. Could be a trick of the camera, but the engine pulley looks a tickle (just a tickle) further in? Man, I am happy to see you build up another WH. I miss seeing Red on the forums.

Well I welded up my battery tray, drilled holes for the seat, did repair some broken spot welds and trimmed the rear fenders for better tire clearance.
I think you guys are gonna like what’s coming in the future I have a pretty cool muffler coming.

@MightyRaze I looked and I didn’t see any markings on it. it came from the factory key switch box. The stock charging system on this is very weak at only like 3A. I may upgrade the charging system in the future.

My least favorite part of building is engineering the belt system. This is 1/2 x 76 belt. The flat idlers are P/N 280-240 4” diameter with 3/8” center hole. Thankfully I’m getting help from a couple of really good experienced Wheelhorse builders.

Looks like you are doing very well with the belt system. You come up with the full-length belt guide? I REALLY like that Idea and I may steal that in the future.

I like the guide also.
I have to ask… does the engine turn clockwise looking at the end we see in the pic? If so, it looks like the clutch is on the wrong side. (I’m guessing the double pulley is the clutch)

Half typed out and realize you see the gold pulleys. They are just idlers. His clutch is down by the trans pulley. One with the red ear on top.

@TechnoChicken 12 or 15 mph on stock turfs, I'm running a 1:1 pulley ratio. The Bear Claws are a bigger diameter so that will speed it up a little bit more.

Stock path...
Cool.
So, which way does the engine turn… looking at that pic. CW or CCW? My curiosity is getting to me.
(I must pay attention when I’m posting. Twice in the last day, I typed something and somehow didn’t get it posted)
