So I picked up a striped lt1000 at a junk yard a few weeks ago. I also managed to find a sweet 820-016B for $15. I also put the MTD hood from my old mower on it. This is only an update right now, but I'm really excited to get to work on it. It's mostly going to be used for trail riding.

So the belt for it came in, and I am very pleased with the results. I'm running the stock 3.5 inch pulley and a 4 inch on the rear, using an 88 inch belt. I'll have to check the speed later, but it's pretty fast with plenty of low end power in first gear. Overall, I think this is going to be a great build.

so the rain put a buffer in the build for me. I was going to color match the rear fenders and paint the wheels. However, with the curent turf tires on it, burnouts on the wet grass are possible! I'll update again when the fenders are painted.

I had thought about stretching it, but where I plan to go and what I plan to do would be a lot more difficult with a stretch. I wanted to stretch it and put an ATV rack on it but it wouldn't cross creeks and go on trails as easily. I may put a rack on the rear though.

So I ran into a buffer in the project. I hit a groundhog hole at 16 mph and destroyed the weak stamped steel front axle. However, this gives me a chance to work on other stuff while the tractor is waiting for a cast iron front axle, like paint and repairing the gas tank.

cool idea! I would cut out some diamond plate and make covers for the sides then it would look like a factory option!

I was planning on just sheet metal but diamond plating does sound better. Thanks for the idea!

When i said stretch i did it on my tractor it works 100 times better and drives so good a tip is add a little bit of caster to it so the top of the axle leans back a little

That's a nice set up. I may have to do that at some point.

So I put a cast iron axle in the front and got it back on it's feet. I also installed a nice hour meter on it from a dlt2000 Craftsman. it looks great overall. I also did a redneck computer geek governor mod and managed to get 21 mph without getting too much rpm. I am very happy with how it is turning out so far.

Sorry I haven't posted an update in a long time. I wanted to show the lift kit i have put on it. I attached two frames in to of one another to raise it about 2.5 inches. I also am swapping the dash for a DLT2000 dash.

Good idea stacking frames! Looks like a cool tractor you're building!

@Brianator thanks man! Hope to have it all together by the end of the week. I still have to mount the hood back in and put the engine in after i finish performance modifications. (30 mm mikuni carburetor and aluminum intake). I also am going to use the factory front pulley and use the deck drive since it hangs lower down into the bottom frame. Should get me to the 30 mph threshold.

Nice! I wish I could say the same, heck we haven't even gotten enough snow for me to fire up the Bolens to deal with it and get my tractor fix! Keep them photos rolling!
