The build off is a double edge sword.
It brings people in, but they leave when it is done.
If a person that has been active (before) a build-off then enters typically leave after they are done with their build-off build.
How to keep people in.... then again forums across the internet are all suffering due to FB, IG, etc.
Sorry ranting again.
I would suggest making the forum have a broader appeal overall.
Try to bring in the lawn mover racing crowd.
And while this would be an uphill battle, I would suggest trying to bring in the "lawn tractor crowd" who actually use their tractors for things like cutting grass, tilling, snow removal, etc. I would suggest the target should probably be the garden tractor and SCUT crowd.
Now, how you are going to advertise and attract them is a different story....

You might be able to use social media as an advantage to lure people in, show 'em some of the really cool finished builds (not that they're ever finished unless they're broken or abandoned) with a link to the build thread and "SEE HOW IT WAS BUILT HERE" all big and flashy like a neon sign! Lol. Featured tractor of the month like, need to tease them so they want to see more.
There's memebers from here taking care of the social media already and some of them have their own related thing going too, if they'd help promote the forum I bet that could help also.
Problem is life is so busy these days because cost of living is so high and people need to spend so much time working there's not much time for hobbies left... sad but true.

I think that the biggest issue is that the older members get youtube and facebook accounts and stuff and then forget about their account on here. Or maybe I’m just too annoying and I drove everyone off…
Either way I think it waxes and wanes so maybe give it time I guess? Idk

i feel like more "older people" (no offence to you older guys) are getting into tech nowadays and they lurk the forums because they dont know how to sign up my grandpa and dad look at respective forums occasionally my grandpa likes using siri on his apple phone and likes youtube because he can learn anything at his voice command. what im saying is simplicity is what people are wanting because they are lazy.
