Been doing a dirt bike build off so havent had much time to continue building the Murray but i did add a cheap low profile head unit. Only $16 and its real easy to pull out when I do a good cleaning to the machine. No speaker yet but i will be looking for a small marine speaker i can hide somewhere. Anyways im starting to get alot of electrical and i plan to also make this a generator so my question for you guys is whats the best alternator to use for these small tractors?

Pretty cool. Do you think vibration will be an issue? I saw a really tiny alternator from a kubota engine online. (I think it was from a kubota) You could try searching for Tiny alternator or small kubota alternator. That might not put out enough amps for you though if you want to power a bunch of stuff or charge other batteries off it ect. You can find pretty much any smaller car alternator and just adapt the pulley to whatever you want to use. On my simplicity I used an alternator off a ford explorer and used a v belt pulley from a sears suburban starter generator. You could also take the alt pulley off and just weld a v belt pulley to it if you can't find something to fit the shaft. Try to find one that's internally regulated. Most are these days anyway.

Ill check out that alternator and not to worried about vibration. Yes its actually Bluetooth, aux and i do believe usb.
The front is about to get changes. Going with bigger tires and to do that looks like the exhaust will have to change.

Well been going back a forth with my self on making changes to the Murray. Went out in the shop tonight and tacked up a front axle. Right now im debating if I want to use the 20" front tires or go down to a 16 and go with a ag tire to match the back
If i keep it like it is i will have to make the wheelbase a little longer to clear floorboards and the exhaust will have to be changed for the tire to steer. Also would have to make the rear a little wider. I do lile gaining bearings and front brakes.

Now THAT looks great! Looks awesome with the larger wheels in the front, and I love the axle mod you did with the ATV hubs.

Thanks. I really think im going to go with it I was having problems with the smaller tires getting stuck in holes. Having to change the exhaust is the biggest pain

I'll second that! I like where you're going with it! Funny though, I literally JUST ordered a set of them 16" AGs. Either way it's gonna look great and probably even handle better!

Looks strong, but ... it may be the angle ... but how you going to steer that thing left or put your kingpin in?

Thanks. I tried several different geometry angles before i built this all out. The 1st design I thought was good I fully welded out and it was horrible. Sometimes its easy to rush yourself. Lol

That is so true... I am dealing with a rush job myself that I didn't realize I was rushing on. LOL

Did a little more tonight. Im using old tie rod ends off a mini van for the steering should be more than strong enough and looks good to.

Fantastic work on the steering knuckes and the tie rod upgrade, should last a lifetime! I've been using automotive joints on tractor builds for a long time now and it's definitely the most heavy duty way to go about it.

Thanks! Yeah i was really wanting something I would not have to worry about. On my last build with big front tires I always had steering problems and it was no fun. Lately I have been hanging on to some parts from our vehicle replacment parts for builds.

We had a nice rain storm come through. Had some fun wading the Murray them let my son try a deep part. It would have made it but ran into belt slippage

That looks pretty fun. Driving through water really is one of the coolest things to do with mowers. It's like a test of your waterproofing skills and a test of craftsmanship in general.
