Not much done this weekend. I was busy with real life. I did have a couple hours I needed to kill this evening, so I finally got around to shortening the shifter for the SEARS. It feels much better, and it doesn't interfere with the seat spring should I go ahead with the original.
How is that not real life? Anyhow, looking like it's going to be a sweet rig, let me now if the longer wheel base helps with stability...

OK, cleaned up the tractor today. Little closer to paint. I now also have a list of things to purchase when I get my yearly bonus.
- need me a sander - 2300 gasket set - outer axle bearings for the 2300 - Briggs gasket set - 1" gokart axle 36 inches. - inner tubes for new front tires - new tires - front wheel bearings
Forgot to get the after shot.
I also did my first mow of the season. Got rid of the dry tinder on top and the little mounds of grass. Noticed the clover is already growing.
I guess I am at a point to start breaking things down for paint and repair.

How the heck is it even possible for you to be cutting grass at this time of year? we don't fire our mowers up until april... are you putting a tranny in that thing or just a chain and live axle? Reminds me though that I don't have that much time left to get all my mowing tractors running

I think to be fair you should Distribute your yearly bonus among all the build off contestants !! tho's in favor say Yah !
Yah!
We don’t start actually cutting till April either. I like to let it go as long as I can because I know once I get that first mow in, the grass goes into high gear from there. And with 10 acres to cut, a solid thousand per season goes into the gas alone.
Okay no more thread jack for me lol

It's now got a peerless 2300. Installed it after I removed the worn-out hydro.
What's the go-kart axle for then? You doing a doc locker type thing?
That is correct. It's going to get doc locked.
I did some more planning and I think I am on track.
Then I..
OH NO! TDR's Body is gone!
HAHA... Just kidding. It's on the rolling cart...
Couple test paint places on there. I did cover the bare metal with some self-etching primer.
Transaxle teardown has started. I'm really hoping that was just a busted clip on the one axle. I was aware of this when I stole the hubs from this transaxle in the past. Not too worried as I am doc locking it. I did take a peek inside with the flashlight. Looked pretty decent inside. Shifter forks could use a cleaning. Probably why I am having issue with 4th gear.
Before I started messing with the transaxle, I sorted out my latest nut and bolt purchase. I am definitely missing a few pieces still. I'll get those after payday.
Getting all the prep done, because here in a few weeks things are going to start moving fast.

I try not to mow at all. We have a 2017 Cub Cadet (the Home Depot yellow one) and I think I ran it once last year.
How the heck is that even possible?
And @Murraymountain (I promise the thread jack ends here lol) do you cut said 10 acres with a zero turn or a rider? We have three, I run one my brother runs the other and the third one is for when the other two break down... I think we cut close to 6 acres, takes half the day with a 42" and a 46" I have no clue what we spend on gas as it's my dad's property so he obviously picks up the tab for the gas...

Well, I busted into the case of the 2300. Looks pretty good inside other than the super thick water impregnated sludge in the bottom.
Got all that cleaned up. There was a little rust on the shifting fork but I was able to manually pop it into 4th gear by hand just fine.
No pix at this time. My hands were pretty nasty and my phone was not handy, but the diff was as expected. The axle came out the end due to the washer inside busting allowing the clip to actually bend and pop out. Washer on the other side was busted as well. That's ok, those parts are unneeded for a Doc lock. I'll get a pic or 2 of that. The gears are reinstalled but the diff for now. I need to get the side hubs on the diff/bull gear section drilled out to 1" for the solid axle.
Scratch that, I went out and took the pic while typing.
Like I mentioned, the sides need drilled to 1" and cleaned. I need to make the doc locker hub now.

SO... I had a great idea. I think. Long ago, I had retaped the one side of my battery tray for my starter solenoid. Today, I decided to run a longer bolt so I could use the bottom side as my ground point.
I even have enough threads on the shorter one to use as a ground as well if needed.
I decided I will use this over a side bolt (also in the pic above) because it would give the solenoid direct grounding and it is central located. Not part of the frame that holds something together. It has clean contact to the metal of the tray. I could go on.
In other news... I cannot find any of my wiring... batt cables and starter cable. HMMM?? Guess I put them in "that" safe place. I also do not know where my rubber boot for the top of the firewall ran off. Probably with the cables.
Here is a teaser for ya.
hahahahahahah

Transaxle tubes lookin good all painted up. Seeing things with fresh paint and remembering what they looked like before is the best part. I think I have one of those transaxles in the garage somewhere.

Well, I dropped some $$ today and purchased my 1" solid axle and the gasket kit for the 2300. Hopefully here in a week or so I can have a roller again!

I finished purchasing all but one final piece that I wanted that I cannot part out of what I have, fabricate, or just plain pull out my backside. Unless puddin cup decides to expand his game on the other side of the world, I should have this thing wrapped up around the end of March? I did decide to change up the tire issue. I'm going much less aggressive with the tires because I'll probably use it up and down the road a lot and aggressive dirt tires would just wear away fast. Going to do a dirt track style tire.
