Been gather parts for the next build. Picked up this john deere 110 for 100 bucks! It's complete and in decent shape.
It odd I don't see many john deere mud mowers on here, why is that?
Anywho, the plan is I picked up a pair of these uber wide kubota wheels for a zero turn at a swap meet for 40 bucks, have my old swampers from my vw bus build that'll go on them 27x9.5r14.
What to build a super beefy tank of a mower and this 110 seems like a good candidate. The frames on these are like 1/4 steel and a peerless 2300 seems like a stout trans.
One other thing is it's not going to stay green, not a fan of green tractors. The deck can be a spare for my actual mower a 216 that's in great shape.
Here's a few pics.

I've also wondered why not many are turned into offroaders, the older ones are really well built and they're nice looking tractors. I'm looking forward to see where this goes!
I was looking at getting a 200 series to build and also noticed you don't see many of them so I'll be excited to see how it turns out. I'm actually going to pick up a 212 tomorrow but I think I'm going to use it for parts. These things are built pretty stout though I think it would probably handle some abuse.
Yea that's the main reason I'm getting it. I ended up buying a wheel horse to build but wanted to put the JD axle under it and I'm getting it for $50 so I figured between the front axle and the peerless in it I couldn't go wrong. I thought the 100 series also had the 1in spindles I'm assuming they don't

Thought about a trailer hub upgrade? If you don’t have the 1 inch spindles in stock they work really good. The hub conversion is super nice to have and really makes these tractors look rugged!
My buddy gave me this lombardini diesel engine I may try to use. Need to make an oil pan that's not so gigantic so see if it will fit. It's only 6hp but torque is probably way more than the 8hp kohler.
Now starting a new oil pan, I'm pleased so far, this time I clamped the flange down to the table and also measured a bit better before I bent the pan part in the sheet metal brake. The pan remains flat after welding. Now I can cut the middle out and drill some holes. Btw stainless steel is a real bastard to work with.

Looks good. Stainless is a real pain to drill or cut sometimes, especially if you don’t have the sharpest bits. Just using plain mig wire on that stainless?
