My Rat Rod Mower

Thanks mighty! Won't truly know how it steers until the linkages are are all hooked up. Fingers crossed that the steering works good!

Yeah, I'm really curious how you are going to link the steering with the frame in the way. I bet you have something up your sleeve!

Progress progress progress!! It aint pretty but I got the steering hooked up:



I had to extend the tie rod 6 1/2" because of the wider front axle. Also I had to flip and re-weld the tie rod end mounts on the spindles to allow the tie rod to clear the front of the tractor. So far it's going good, and next I think in gonna try and add some gussets for the spindle knuckles to be sure they're not going anywhere. Gettin' close hahaha! Let me know what ya think!

OK, was wondering how you was going to do the tie rods.

Will there be some sort of bumper? Or are you going to live dangerously?

Living on the edge my friend!! Haha! I'm not sure, this is strictly a street rig, so hopefully I won't catch the tie rod on anything. But if I rip the tie rod off on a rock or something you guys will be the first to know! Hahaha!

I'm also thinking about making a custom badge out of sheet metal to go on the front of this thing. I drew it out for fun:

Just a little extra touch to go on the very front. It's based on the old Allis-Chalmers badges they put on the D series tractors and what not. But it's A-K instead of A-C. What do you guys think?

The one on your channel? I thought that bike was pretty awesome! I never saw the badge though, sounds cool nonetheless.

Delayed response to your steering earlier. I guess it won't run into the front. I thought that rod would be a lot closer or would hit the frame. Looks good.

Nothing really new with this thing today, I added a couple small braces for the spindle knuckles, and a couple of cosmetic things just for fun hahaha. No pictures cuz its nothing special. More tomorrow hopefully!

I lied hahaha. I do have a couple pics of today's work. The braces are just a washer cut in half. It's nothing crazy but it should help a bit.

Thanks! I like them too haha, I just got to find a way to secure them while making sure they don't try and move when the spindle turns. Hopefully I'll figure something out.
