I think my PCV valve had already failed before this conundrum, so I might try a different one lol. And she's definitely getting a different air filter(what, you thought i was gonna buy one?). And I'll just clean the plugs. It'll be aight.

So i cleaned all that mess up and drained the bowl. Gas in there about matched the color of the oil. Gross lol.


Got her back running and I thought to do a compression test. I think the last time i tested it, it didnt have much more than 90psi. I can tell this engine has a sh*t ton of hours on it. Probably needs head gaskets and rings. Maybe a project for when I get a job...

Build a stroker out of it while you have it apart

As long as your oppy run good, and has enough power, i wo'nt rebuild it. You can try to put some high temp silicone between the head, the gasket and the block to get e tiny bit more psi, but i wo'nt buy new rings. Make a better Exhaust, so the smoke looks like it needs to be there! And looks like it's be enough compression to have enough power. I want to see, how your machined air filter thing will fit, and if it will work well.

Yeah, I can't say seeing one of my gas engines smoking is something I'd ever call fun. Usually nerveracking, haha.

Smokin like a diesel is fun, but not good for the engine, unfortunately.

Well the smoke this time was from oil that probably gushed up the PCV tube lol.

Yeah that's what I figured.

Maybe run a drill bit down in there with the PCV fitting threaded in. That way it’s a smooth bore inside. Otherwise looks great rich

Yeah I'd just take it out and cut the end down like Rich said so when the it's threaded all the way in there's nothing sticking on the inside. Looks good though Rich, pretty slick looking setup.

Looks like there is a milling machine right there, could always clamp the setup to the table and run an endmill down there. May need a longer endmill or a hole saw may work.
That part looks real good though.

You could try doing it by hand too with a die grinder

Snorkel install looks good. What are frogsnacks? What are you soaking the carb in? water?
