Just Checked out ATLMA

So I've seen people on here mention how strict the rules were on the "other off-road lawn tractor forum", but I'd never actually been on that site before or seen the rules. Well I found a link to the site in an old thread on here and I HAD to check it out.

I dont know how many of you guys have checked out the project build rules on that site, but they're quite ridiculous!
I'll post a screenshot of the rules so you can see what I mean:



These are the rules since 2010 for all tractor projects on that site. I find some of those rules totally unneccessary... especially the "No custom exhaust" rule. And these arent just guidelines, they're mandatory rules! I'm not trying to start an argument about a dead forum here, I just had to post something cause I couldn't believe what I was reading! I'm sure glad I found ATLTF first! Hahaha, let me know what you guys think about this.

But in my opinion some of the rules from ATLMA didnt need to be enforced. Trying to restrict peoples builds like that seems like a bit much to me.

Maybe more clarification of one of ours.  I agree theirs is a bit restrictive.  Sounds like a racing/pulling/etc association rule set.

Can you guess how much work Waterfowlwidowmaker would have to do on his Tracta-cooler to meet the rules? or Tater's dragster..

Yeah and these are the rules for ALL tractor build threads! There's basically no creative freedom if they all have to follow these rules.

Yah, that sounds pretty restrictive to me. Those people who came up with those rules, I got a name for them. I call them "Purists". They want to keep everything original looking. Some of the rules makes sense but should be common sense, not rules.

Yeah no kidding. I think simple guidelines are a better idea than rules for builds. It'd be a pain trying to made sure every single build is following the rules.

That site is dead now and has been for a while, but its the reason why Todd made this forum.

Its dead because the owner of that place, Chris I believe, was the second coming of Hitler. You HAD to adhere to those rules. If you didnt, you were banned. Also, if he or his staff didnt like you, you were banned.

Wow, that's bad. Yah, just looked it up and there hasn't been a post on it for over a year or so.

Yeah it's definitely dead. No surprise though hahaha.

What is cool here, should you do something shady, we all chime in and say hey.  You may want to look at that and why.  But sheesh!  Every build.....

Also I found out that if you type "All Terrain Lawn Mower Association" into Google, the first thing that comes up is ATLTF. Hehehe. I guess we win!
