Here is this pile of turd i got for 20 bucks.... I bought it for the deck and was told it didnt run, but it runs great.... Ive been running it thru the woods & its great, just need some bigger tires asap...
Only problem i have is something is going on with the transaxle... when i come to a sudden stop this is what I get...
I dunno i think the transaxle might just be junk, I had it going up a steep hill and it just stopped, the belt is tight but I saw it spinning real slow.....weird

Those FNRs are everywhere where I’m at, you should have no problem finding another

Those style of MTD's look quite nice, even if they are flimsy. FNRs are very common, but if you're going to replace the transaxle why not take the chance to swap in a Peerless or Foote/Spicer?

I found another stupid FNR trans axle so I might throw it in, and I have some tires sitting that I wanna throw on it & just abuse it. Good thing about this tractor is when it gets stuck you can just pick it up and carry it.... otherwise you just pull the motor and leave the rest where it sits.

Open the transaxle case and clean it up so you can inspect the gears

well I finally picked up 2 junk MTD tractors and got the parts i needed to fix this thing up...Put a 2" hitch on it. So now it drives great & looks like ronald mcdonald. Looking for some atv tires for it now.... Just gonna use it to beat around, tow trailers & get my trash cans.

Good that you got it going again. Any idea what was wrong with the old FNR? I think the yellow rims with red bodywork looks better than the stock grey rims. That seat is the same as on my Westwood.

That color combo is as...unusual. I'm not too sure if I'd want my neighbors seeing me driving Ronald McDonald's tractor around. You could just spray the rims and call it good.
I like the reciever. Looks like a quick and strong build with that gusset.

hey its intentionally ugly & no one will ever see me driving it around up here. Picked up some 22x11-8 atv tires last night, took me 2+hours to get the beads broken since they were rusted bad. One tire came off clean but ill need a tube for the other. Was hoping to be driving it today but ill wait...
Im gonna see if i can get a mcdonalds arch for the hood haha

I spent all night friday (2) hrs trying to break the bead on these old ass atv tires that were rusted like hell, anyway I got them off but the one tire needs a tube so I couldn't mount them up today....

ATV tires are hard to bust off an ATV rim. They have an extra high ridge for the bead. They will look nice once done!
Subject: Re: Red Rock It August 28th 2018, 8:52 pm
got the tires mounted up, no real issues....other than having to cut the fenders a bit... I guess one of the things i like about this tractor is you can slide your feet in and out of it without lifting them over the steering wheel haha...

Awesome horse barn.
If thing is easy to get on and off like a scooter or mobility scooter you should call it the "hover round"
Seriously tractors like this are nice for jobs around the farm where you are frequently getting on and off.

yeah its a easy to use tractor, if it gets stuck you can just pick the whole thing up and move it since its so light.

Looks nice with those tires on. Does your F-N-R shifter get tight or hard to shift at times? Like for instance when you had the front in those ruts? I have an old FNR that is hard to shift. I haven't looked much into mine. I was curious if you had that issue too.

Not this one but, the other MTD I had was like that, and sometimes you would have to roll it forward or back a little to get it to engage. I tried to lubricate that little plunger that is in the transaxle but it didn't do much better. I just think the whole thing is a total stupid ass over complicated system, I would never buy one that cost more than a few dollars.
