or are you just gonna oof it into gear?
That's funny. I just about finished the belt system for this.
Not a great picture but you can kinda see what's going on. Just a regular single pulley clutch. You may recognize that the clutch is in fact on the wrong side of the belt, but for this I don't think that's an issue
The lever i made for it. It's Budgie's deck lift lever i cut up and bent. It may or may not stay like this, we'll see.
Mighty was correct about the residual drag, it does have a bit in neutral
The belt does have a tendency to spin when the clutch is disengaged. I added a few keepers and it got a bit better. I can still stop it by hand so i figure it won't be an issue. I'll keep it in neutral most of the time anyway so.
What's left to do here as far as i can tell: -Fairlead -Weld drum together -Figure out how I'm securing the first few wraps on the drum (I did order some winch rope btw, should be here around christmas) -Winch brake setup (Using the stock caliper on the 700) -Check whatever lubricant is in the 700 I haven't even popped the plug yet and I've had it a year -Blow everything back apart and paint it

to have the shifter for the winch in front instead of near the dash is kinda stupid solved IMO cuz if U winch U sit on the mower and steer, throttle,... instead of standing near the grill to shift

But the clutch is operated from the seat. So once you put the winch in gear it can be fully operated while sitting in the seat.
Looks great to me Rich!

but the shifter that can be operated from the seat position would be smarter!

I was thinking about a push/pull shifter at the seat, but that would've been some tough engineering. Really once i choose a gear I can operate the clutch from the seat and that'll work fine.

IMO that looks like a really simple setup, just a lever with a pivoting point and a linkage that clears between the oppy and the frame, that connects to the shifting arm on the 700. Once U have time and motivation to build it, try it out. My complicated MTD fender shift works great and it's using the same method!

only have one thing to nit pick, I think you should add some braces to the pillow blocks holding the drum. I think it will be fine pulling the tractor, but I think youll end up using this for heavy pulling at some point and bend your mounts

I think the real winch rope will work with this fairlead. Redline's seemed to work, although i think he switched to cable later on. We'll see how it goes i guess
