Looks like an alright deal to me. I have that same foote, has a stripped forward input gear though(they have two input gears like the msts). Besides sintered steel gears, they're pretty well built.

Anyone know the torque limits of foote gearboxes?

Not sure myself, but these foote gearboxes have a plain bushing for the input shaft, so don't be overspeeding it much. They also aren't sealed, so be careful with light oils, and make sure to vent it if you do use oil.

The Foote gearboxes are decent.

BTW, just wanted to let ya'll know, everyone in the chatbox last night who said that tractor was a hydro, it's a geared.

Rich, do you know the inner and outer diameter and of the bushings on the foote? i could swap in some imput bearings from a 700 if the outer is about 1 inch. Do you think the foote can handle a live axle with two 18 inch ag or light treaded atv tires? about 15 mph max i am thinking

This tractor, was thinking of getting it for mowing.  I said I thought it was a geared and everyone else said it was a hydro. I inquired and he said it was geared. 

Wonder why he put a hydro shifter handle on it? I'll stick with hydro.

yeah the seller does not know what he's talking about, its a hydro. unless he put a different rear in it thats a hydro mower for sure because of the shift lever style and lack of gear selection numbers on the plastic fender shifter mount plate, i has a rabbit symbol for forward fast and a turtle for slow .

Yeah, the way he worded it makes it seem like a hydro. Plus the shifter gate looks like a hydro one for sure. If it was a geared trans the shifter would be almost all the way back. But it's pretty much in the middle so I'd say it's a hyrdostat.

Yer right, it is farther forward than it is in Mighty's picture. Oh well....

Sears "Grandpa" got poop duty today..

Its definitely a hydro. Its hard to see, but the marking where the numbers should be if it were geared looks exactly like this. That guy is clueless unless he swapped transaxles.

In other news, we should be getting like 5-8" of snow Friday! I'll see about getting ungrounded then and taking Orion for a rip and seeing how she does in the snow, being that Mutt is currently out of commission now haha

There was also a "Mention" button added to the top bar of every post, its by the rep system. Itll instantly insert a mention, even if youre already typing text into, say, the quick reply text box. Its dead simple, easier than putting " around people with spaces in their username.

I got two parts piles started ! One definite build and one that might work out

I need to get my second parts pile started. I have most of what I need for the Murray project. Just need some for the craftsman project.

Nice. I like that lttle craftsman, i think i know of one i could get like that , its on the way to school in someones horse pen. pretty rusty but look awesome! it might be a bit different cause it has some shiny aluminum strips on the sides of the hood.


On another note,... i got this tonight. build off project #1 is done for the parts finding stage!( this engine is coming off of the machine and getting scrapped but the frame is what i am using so it will be show in February when the build off starts)

Saw a Murray GT in town today but i think its still in use , but hey i saw one at least, also i think i have found a murray like @mightyraze 's pre build project sitting in a yard out in the country so i am going to ask about that soon .

I have no parts piles started. I started cleaning the shop tonight, trying to get stuff acclimated so once I can afford to build my benches I can get it done quick like.
