I have the excact engine Doc, if it's a Kubota Z401.
Right you are! Would you do me a favour then? When you have a chance, measure the radiator surface area for me- not the tanks, just the cooling area. I want to see if what I have available comes close to the stock configuration. Thanks, TD!
were holding it hostage till you promise to put the kubota in :v!

LOL...
Well, N/A for now. Engine runs good, no need to mess with it right now. After the tractor's built, I may look into a turbo. Seems to be a better choice for diesel engines. Finding one cheap, though... Dunno.

Might be an idea! Pretty sure there's not much chance of me laying hands on a cheap Kubota turbo.
Meanwhile, I been trying to figure out what to do with my plans. Y'all know I've got a nifty John Deere 112 waiting in the wings, with a loose plan to make another MULE-like machine. Then, there's this thing which I have been loosely referring to MULEII.
That won't do.
First, the Deere will be done long before this will, and this really is a scratchbuild, as opposed to a bunch of mods. Second, Johnny D will be much closer in function to MULE than this totally off-the-reservation-creation will be. So... As of today, Johnny D officially becomes MULEII.

Doesn't it, though? A friend who saw the video remarked that at speed, it's so smooth and sweet it doesn't even sound like a diesel. Curious to see where it caps out. Previous owner turned the fuel delivery and governor up a bit. I tached it passing 4000RPM, and then got off the throttle again. Don't want to free rev-it to death. Once it's all up and running, I'll figure MAX RPM with a load on, to keep things from breaking.
