| cool old machine, like how it has the toolbox.... I love my old IH, we have allot of property but I still dont use it too much because of the size of it & how much of a pain it is to maneuver around... Those machines are not worth a whole heck of allot to sell so you might as well fix it up, put some paint on it & do something with it... | |

| I don't know if I have long term use of it, but if it works well, I do have some immediate need for it. I need to work the back yard a bit better for drainage. Beyond that, I have access to a tiller and maybe do that garden I keep thinking about. Don't get me wrong, I love my Sears Suburbans, but there is only so much I can do with a tractor their size, when one of these could do it much faster. Future thoughts... Restore it, take it back to original colors. (Battleship Grey) Resto-mod it, It already has the wrong engine, 12v upgrade and what appears wrong colors. (Probably go this route and paint it to be my own) | |

| Free is a good deal. There's always been a Ford Jubilee in my family(with a backhoe grafted onto the back, but that's irrelevant). She's always ran great, even after not having a air filter for 40+ years. 6v battery always gave trouble though. I'm sure that 8n will run nice when you get it running. | |

| So does that one have the ohv engine or flathead? I'm not sure what one is which. My grandfather has a golden jubilee 1952? 53? His has been sitting outside for most of the time he has had it. I think he bought it in the 70's. His has the sherman hoe and front loader also, with some heavy use before he got it. The arms and supports for the loader has been broken and welded a few times. Usually starts and runs pretty good though. Not the most powerful machine compared with todays stuff but gets the job done. | |

| They’re great little tractors for bush hogging, box blade, rototiller, pto spreader, sprayers, and a small disk. I’ve spent a fair amount of time around a jubilee putting in food plots for deer hunting. They’re perfect for that | |

Dad's Jubilee is OHV. I'm not sure the 9Ns were. And yeah, not all that powerful, but reliable as can be.

| Here ya go... she's a flatty. You can see where the 8n (RED) was mated to the 9n rear (GREY). First thing this old girl needs a good scrubbing. Then it needs the shift selector installed in the trans. From there, I'll give her the flame juice and fire it up. | |

| My grandfather's has the exhaust manifold rusted off for quite awhile. Like someone said, the old 6v system cranks kinda slow. But it gets her going. | |

| Cool old motor, love me a flattie, LOL. At work, we had a fork lift with a 4 cylinder flattie in it. Those motors have awesome low end torque and can idle reliably at like 300 rpm. | |

| Mighty, if you need to, you can jump it direct to the starter with a 12v battery. Just remember, positive ground.
The cast exhaust manifold on dads has had tons of patches, somehow it's still holding together. I don't think they're all that uncommon or hard to replace though, being right on the side of the engine.

| Hmm, is there any chance the ol' girl has been converted to 12v? Just wondering because of the alternator on it.

| Oh whoops, I missed that in one of your earlier posts. My bad, haha.
I can't say how it's set up now, but I imagine the original 6v system was positive ground. | Yeah the original 6V would have been Positive ground. Not sure if the site is 100% yet. Posts seem delayed.

| Just going to have to follow the wiring to figure out if it is positive ground. Look at the things you know how to wire where it matters and see how it is wired on your tractor. FYI, they came up with a positive ground system to get rid of static charges that is a potential fire hazard. | |

| They're originally positive ground.
I doubt they changed the starter on the 12v conversion. It's probably still positive ground, so it's reasonable to assume the tractor still is. I'd still look over the wiring though.
