Hello everyone!
My name is Chris Stokes, and I am excited to be a part of this community. I am a huge fan of all things DIY and enjoy tinkering with machines in my free time. Recently, I picked up an old Craftsman GT6000 and decided to transform it into an Offroad AllTerrain Mower.
I am thrilled to share with you my latest YouTube video, where I document the entire process of upgrading and modifying my Craftsman GT6000 to take on rough terrains like mud, dirt, and rocks. I added big tires, a utility rack, and even made some customizations to make it more efficient and powerful.
I am proud of the results and can't wait for you to see how I turned an old junkyard mower into an all-terrain powerhouse.
So, if you're interested in seeing my latest creation, head over to my YouTube channel WinchOutdoors and check out the "All Terrain Craftsman Garden Tractor" video. I hope you enjoy it, and please feel free to leave your comments and feedback in the comments section.
Thank you, and I look forward to interacting with you all in this community!

Welcome to ATLTF! Nice rig! When you are ready, you can look into locking that trans to get better traction in mud and traction plus safety in hill climbs.

Thanks for the warm welcome! I wanted a bit more out of the GT so I swapped the rear transaxle pulley with one from TSC. It's fast now. Want to do a foot throttle now to open it up a little more. Looking forward to taking it out for more testing soon.

Looks like you get some pretty good speed there. Have any problems with the clutch not working or the belt jumping off?

I think the belt is a bit too large. It slips. I ordered a 92" kevlar belt to try out. Checked speed with gps on cell phone and was showing 11.9mph in highest gear.

With the smaller pulley you have less wrap around the pulley, making for less grab and more slip. Your pulley isn’t terribly small though.
When your clutch is engaged, make sure the clutch pulley and pedal aren’t bottomed out. You need some extra travel in there to keep tension on the belt as it wears.
