| Hahaha, yeah you could be right. So far it seems to be pretty minimal due to the good fender coverage though, so hopefully it'll be alright. |

| Well it was too hot for any welding today so I didn't get the nerf bars done on the ol' Ford, haha. However I decided to finally paint my rims instead! I've wanted to go red with them because I figured it would add to the old school dirt racer/rally look I'm shooting for, haha. Fronts off and ready to be cleaned up: Some paint layed down: Fronts done! Rears done! Touched up the the center caps a bit too as they were chipped. I also clear coated the blower shroud while I was at it, turned out pretty nice. And the final product! I like how it turned out! Definitely gives 'er a different look. Maybe I'll try and fab up those nerf bars tomorrow, we'll have to see. Haha. But for now, I'm happy to have the rims done. Let me know what ya think! |

| I love the rims! Makes her look very sharp. What size are those cotter pins holding on the fronts? |

| came out cool, that annoys me about the opposed engines is there is no real good concealed way to deal with the choke and throttle. Painting those rims with the tires mounted is tough, looks like it worked out.

Thanks Matt! Not sure about the diameter of the cotter pins exactly, a bit smaller than 3/16" maybe. - @mrshaft696 wrote:

Thanks! Yeah the cables just kinda hang out above the engine, haha. Taping off the tires was a bit tedious, but it turned out pretty decent so I'd say it was worth it. |

| Haha thanks muck. Yeah it wasn't long after I painted them that they were mud covered. I like being able to see the red though, looks pretty cool in my opinion. |

| Forgot to mention, I've always had a bad oil leak around the front of the engine that seemed like the oil pan even though I couldn't see any obvious gasket blow outs. Opon further inspection I noticed that four of the six oil pan bolts where completely missing! Like what kinda goofball operation was this engine a part of before I got it? Anyways I just got four new bolts and lock washers for it: Snugged 'em up and brake cleaned the whole front of the engine until it was clean and dry, then after a couple days of driving around it's still dry as a bone! Should be good to go! I don't mind if it seeps a bit every now and then I guess, but it always leaked so bad I was scared to drive it too far from the house in case it ran outta oil. Shouldn't have that problem now! Haha. |

| Well that would surely explain the oil leak! The 12hp flatty on the Westwood has a slight oil leak, I wonder if there are any bolts missing on the sump. |

Haha, yeah for sure. After that I almost kinda wanna check all my other engines for missing oil pan bolts. Hahaha. |

| Still catching up... missing the front 4 bolts eh? Kal's was too. I'm pretty certain it is from the removal of the muffler bracket they attach to those front 4 bolts and they were not reinstalled? Good catch. |

| Yeah Rich mentioned that as well. Makes sense, although this one has the muffler on the right side of the engine. Either way I suppose it doesn't really matter, haha. |

| The oppy I got off the MTD to go on my RER had a muffler held on by those four bolts. I think my spare 42ci has studs there so you dont have to loosen the sump and risk cracking it too. |

| Yeah studs seems like a better option so half the pressure on the oil pan casting isn't removed at once. But anyway the oil leak still seems to be cured which makes me happy cuz I don't have to worry about loosing all the oil anymore, haha. |
