cheers, I was quite happy with how well they fit.

so I figured I am going to need a decent battery to run all the accessories planned for this build, so an upgrade was in order, got myself a MOWRINE battery 580 CCA and 65 AH should do the trick I reckon. will even run my 12 volt fridge for a good day or two without charging but will have an upgraded charging system on the mower also.

Looking good! I need a new battery for my Mutt, the old 330cca isn't what it used to be, especially cranking the big 20hp

got the ladder bars all tacked into place, will leave them only tacked up until I am sure they will not interfere with anything else added down the track, clutch, brakes, shifter etc.

Cheers AlliskidD21 I hope so, I also extended the wheelbase a little, wasn't too sure on it to start with but it has grown on me and I think it will work good when the rear rack is added.

welded in the mounts for the headlights, to make them mount as close as possible I welded them straight to the bodywork of the grill panel.

Cool! Those headlights made er look mean!

cheers it's looking the goods, with that front bar and a winch tucked in it should come up a treat I think.

Excellent on the frame fab up with the front suspension. Also, I think the wheelbase extension looks good with those monster tires!

picked up some essentials and spares for the tool box while I had the chance,

pulled the old clutch and gear shift set ups out ready to fab and modify the new set up.

in the first pic I am pointing to the location where I am thinking a drain plug for an oil conversion would be appropriate, hope so as the bash plate from the quad lines up perfectly with it. guess I will know more when it comes to the solid axle swap and I split the tranny.

battery upgrade and relocation time, I decided to fit the battery behind the dash in the end and scrap the rearward facing twin idea as if I build to suit that configuration I would end up not being able to run a single in it, the plan is to build to suit any motor I want to swap out etc, the idea was to keep it high and dry also and get the weight centred on the mower as much as possible. here are some pics of the target location,

removed the dash to gain access to the tunnel and measured and marked out intended cut lines, the idea here is to move the front edge of the opening back 65mm to allow room for the battery to mount low enough to clear the bonnet when shut.

I dont think that battery is gonna work, it says "Just for Boats" on it, I wouldnt risk it. Hahaha, no that should work pretty good for ya. On the drain plug idea I'm not sure if that location would weaken the case or not? It would be handy to have it line up with the skidplate though.

OH NO!!! I was pretty sure it said just for mowers, lol, not to worry as the local battery distributor I can try all sorts before I settle for one.

all cut and shut, with one issue the steer shaft in the first pic you can see rubs on the edge of the opening now, so a little fix was in order, you can see in picture 3 where I removed the cut out and welded it back into place for the clearance.

and then !!!!!!

so I cleaned up what I had already got done and sat a battery in place to see where I was at with it. pretty happy with it so far, next will be the rack itself, so close yet so far.

Man, I don't know.  There are a lot of cupped out areas inside the trans, that I don't know a drain plug there would be beneficial or anywhere on the bottom.  Plus with these things being cast, it may cause a weak point in the casing.  I'm probably the lesser knowledgeable about these things, maybe someone else will chime in as well.

yeah, the decision will be made when pulled apart, if done it will be outsourced to a friend who has the ability to weld cast aluminium and a threaded bung will be welded into place not just drilled and tapped.

That place you are pointing to would be where the main gears are. A weld in tab would be good because you are adding metal thickness to that area, in reference to this metal length when taped for the plug will keep the plug away from the gears when tight. Keep in mind that the plug, when you tighten it, part of the plug will be poking inside the case and there needs to be enough room for that. A good spot in that area maybe would be where the small gears would be, in one of the corners of that area.

sounds good, if the hole in the bash pan doesn't line up I can always cut and shut it, have welder will weld, lol, cheers for your input it is all appreciated. have a great day to all.
