Tremclad Clear over tremclad Gloss black.
The gloss blacks needs a huge flash time apparently.
I threw the Candy over it just so see how it would look.
The Result.
I looked at it, not real happy. I'll see what else I can come up with.

The paint is the issue. I screwed up in using tremclad. Proper prep is always the issue, even when dealing with spraybombs
tremclad is fine for frames.
This sample is a combination of tremclad black over duplicolor high performance wheel paint, under duplicolor clear.
Paint the whole hood the shiniest silver you can, I used duplicolor high performance wheel paint, aluminum.
Throw a coat of clear over it to seal it. duplicolor gloss clear.
I layed out the web using 1/4`wide masking tape over the aluminum clear coat.narrow masking tapes can be bent as they are layed down. It was all done free hand.
Once I had it all layed out. I sprayed gloss black over everything. Heres where the tremclad comes in Then I pulled all the masking tape.
That left me with the silver web.
Then I sprayed clear over it, which is where this paint job messed up.
the black wasn;t dry enough, i sprayed too soon.
Then I threw a coat of duplicolor metelcast red over top to give me the blood red lines. another coat or three of clear and it would have been kickass.
Also i`ve found that throwing the candy colors over black tends to give the black parts a slight tinge of the candy color..

Ok, your method was exactly what I expected. It's too bad it took a dump on you, as it would have been quite nice. I've had enough paint jobs go south that I never mix types/brands of paint anymore. There's some combos you can get away with, but I HATE redoing stuff, so I don't chance it.
Guess you have to sand/strip the whole schmeer now?

Poly stripper is a wonderful thing, It should only take a couple of hours to strip the paint, plus a couple more weeks of alternating paint coats and drying time.
I'm going to stick to all duplicolor paints this time.
Twice as much money, half the work.

Finished the paint.
Pretty much finished now, except for the fuel tank, heat shield for the exhaust, and possible wheelie bars.

I have the heat shield figured out, the piece is cut, need a few minutes with the hole saw.
The fuel tank has a bottom end, and fuel outlet welded in, but needs a filler neck, top end, and vent.
Wheelie bars are next after that. And I almost forgot, I have a piece of poly cut to fit the cavity on the nose.
Trying to decide what to do with it.
On a side note, I put a new bumper and grill on the van today, cost me 150 bucks. Bitch is on these units, the rad support is a structural member, I had tom use a hydraulic jack to pull out the rad support.
