| So are you planning on putting that locked FNR into the Murray. I've thought of building up a basic tractor with a locked FNR with a pulley swap before because it would be easy to drive and would be nice for a young driver. A potential downside of a pulley swapped FNR is the lack of torque for pulling in forward as there's no gears to change down to, but as a runabout it wouldn't be a bad drivetrain. | |

| Wouldn't wanna gear it too high either, or taking off would be brutal since you only have one gear. | Yeah I forgot to mention that Allis. Only having one gear limits how fast you can gear it to. But it would probably be ok at around 10mph. | |

| I’m guessing you hit something with the bottom of that transaxle jus right and it cracked it all the way around the perimeter and it fell off. | |

| Oooohhhh, that is painful. Perhaps there was a weakness around the perimeter of the base of that trans, and a knock on the bottom cracked it and it fell out. Some JB Weld or other epoxy may fix it though. | |

| Well the internals are mst, and the case is 930, not sure if that had something to do with it.lol and It was doc locked and I was drifting around......
Well I posted an ad on Craigslist and already have two craftsman mowers lined up to pick up in wichita, one is a 1978 model with a bad engine and the other is a 1990's model with a broken steering assembly. Perfect for parts!!!

| Nice score on the Craftsman mowers. I'd be interested to see the older one, I love older mowers. Be sure to post some pics of it if you get it! | |

| Yup. If the Murray is a gt and I can get it for under 80 bucks it's way better than the eBay 820. | |

| I'm kinda lost in the thread, but the 78 Craftsman could be either Roper or Murray built. If Roper I may have the 633a with Hi/Lo if Murray then a 2300. Then again is may be a suburban.
Murray GT with an 820? $80 sounds good.

| ugh its a wide body i think. the 1978 craftsman is hopefully a garden tractor instead of a lawn mower, ive always wanted one. | |

| That's a neat looking pulley on that transaxle. What's it offa? | yeah i think it was the diff that exploded like that , the diffs on peerless 930s is the weak link for me. the clusters were fine and input gears were fine. Since i got the 2300 i am thinking about putting it in this one so i stop breaking trannys, does anyone know if you can shift on the fly with a 2300 without grinding gears? | |
