Spares are useful to have for those engines. I would put in whatever engine you have laying around to get it driving, then maybe buy another better engine for it in the future.

I have around 9 or 10 pusher Engines lying around, I could Use. But for that I need to modify the mounting plate and stuff. I could maybe get a 12,5 I/C Flathead from my dad he has in storage. It smokes, needs new rings I could rob from 1 of my blown Engines. Valves need to be lapped too. And Carb rebuilt. Looked up Briggs Engines yesterday... soooo Expensive! I need to find a Junk mower with a great Engine.
To make @Double W Cross Ranch happy, I tried to fit a Vanguard in it. I really would like to have a 14HP Twin in it......
As you can see, Unfortunately the hood do'nt fit the Air filter.
so, then I really need to go single. But How Doc did it?? He had the air filter on his too.
And I made up some space to store it in a dry area, cuz it rusts everywhere, and I do'nt want this beauty to rust out or get stolen or dameged from trees before I can build it. I will build it, once I done Mud Murray, and maybe next to Drifting Dynamark, or after it. I will decide later. But first I need some $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ to realize the Projects, and pay for the parts. The cost of Widebody robbed me my last savings!

In this vid at about 5:12 he shows how he moved the hood forward a touch to get the vanny to fit. Or, you could make a custom air intake for it, that'd be sweet.

Man, it's getting hard the tell wether this is W's build or Sebastian's.

Ooo that Vanguard looks good in there. Yeah I'd say if you can get a 14-16hp Vanguard cheapish then get it, moving the hood forward would solve the air box problems you were having, or a 14hp might be smaller than the 20 so maybe it would fit past the hood.

I looked for some Briggs Vanguards yesterday, and found a 14HP Twin, 16HP Twin, 15,5HP single.

I looked, found few payable Vanguards, just need to ask the guys for shipping. Last Vanguard I bought was too heavy for shipping, so it came disassembled.

I got a Parts Rig I will part out. The Engine is going into MURRAY WIDEBODY!
(For more info on the Parts Rig check out my 4X4 Mud Murray Thread!)
I got the Engine running, and will swap it once I begin the Build.
it has 14HP, built 1990, shouldn't have that much hours on it, cuz the mower is still in pretty good Shape.
(Engine is Complete, running really nice and smooth)

I pulled the Engine outta my Gutbrod Mower, and test fitted it into the Widebody. As known, very tight fit under the hood, and the air filter hits the hood. Will be some work to fit it in the Engine in, and let it look like stock, but I will do it!

Figuring out some build plans...
- Adding a Tunnel like my Dynamakrs and the Mud Murray have for storage - Widening the Fenders - Front Bumper - Doc Locked MST205 - Reinforced Front axle - Suspension in the front - 22" ITP Mud Lites for the Rear - 16" / 18" front tires - rear rack - trailer hitch - Vanguard - straight piped (probably sidepipes or stacks) - maybe a muffler to quieten it down when U drive through the neighborhood at midnight - LED front and back lights - Skid Plates - Reinforced Frame - 3:2 pulley swap - better clutch - and a few other goodies (maybe you guys have some good ideas)

I would have pipes out the back personally, but that's just me. Otherwise, I love the plan!
