Sure why not although the bigger the pulley the better! If you're lucky enough to find one and it's compatible with your crank then a booster fan would be the bees knees, it already has a rope notch built into it and has the added benefit of stuffing more air in the flywheel.

Here's a pic of a compatible flywheel and the booster fan/screen, this is on a 1977 B&S 16hp single with a starter/generator.

I can't say for sure if it will work but it's something to look in to, I could make some comparisons between my Oppy and that 16hp to get an idea if this sounds up your alley.

I’ve been pull starting them since I was about 13, haha. They’re not that bad. Hell, I’ll spin them over with a drill if I’m in the shop and the carb is dry. Saves the battery.
