Went to tractor supply to try and find some black 3/16 fuel line but they didnt have any. Luckily enough I saved the old fuel line and just ended up useing it, I dont like how its blue but that's all I can get around here, finding hose clamps that will work is hard too, ended up using zip ties on the gas tank and carb inlet because I couldnt find my stash of hose clamps. I also needed a o-ring for the bottom of the carb bowl, my dad works for Parker Seal and they make o-rings, so he found one that worked perfectly!

I think its 3/16.....could be wrong but 1/8 is too small and 1/4 is too big......seems like all that fits is this blue fuel line I got from rural king. Cant remember what size it was but the inlet on the carb is pretty small on these hondas.

Well the ol wheel horse pulled off tow truck duty the other day. Got the sears moved around to the big garage, maybe it'll motivate me to work on it.

Well every post I make starts with "Well'.............but I'm back working on this thing again and I finally have time to work on my own things but unfortunately College starts back the 16th so I'm not sure how long that'll last. I ended up pulling the dash and gas tank support out to repaint them and to also clean up everything.
For the gas tank support, I welded up all the extra useless holes and took the whole thing down to bare metal and then re primed and painted it. Didnt take any pictures of the progress because like I said I dont have a long time before school starts back.

For the dash I made this special offset washer, and I cant think of how to describe how it works or its purpose.
But its basically a thingy that used the big hole in the dash and drops it down smaller so the switch will go in, but it offsets it upward so that the switch doesn't hit the bottom of the dash piece that the steering shaft goes through!
Here's a picture....maybe you'll get the idea.

Anywards. Also took out the shifter plate and re-painted it too, after I put a greater bend in it because the shifter would rub it in second gear. Not necessarily a problem but its always bugged me.

I also sanded down and painted the muffler with this high temp barbecue black. I think it looks alot better!
Lastly! Here's a random picture showing the lack of a dash!

Got everything put back together and even decided to use washers on all the bolts. The dash didnt come out that good because the can of rustoleum had a clogged tip and it wasnt spraying all that good so the paint has a texture to it. I've never had an issue with the tips clogging up until recently. Now after I'm done I soak the tips in paint thinner.

Not that I know of. I'm not too worried about because the dash piece is aluminum so it will wear out before the hood does. I'd probably try rapping a thin piece of rubber around your hood or dash and maybe that'll stop it.
I've wondered things like this when I'm at car shows and I see a car that's almost perfect and wonder how they keep everything so nice and yet still drive their car. I could probably eat off their engines they're so clean.

I did finally get around to changing the oil in this turd last month. Used kohler 10w30 since it's got the good zinc in it. Makes that flat tappet cam happy!

on the dash scenario, I just use a piece of duck tape on my restored sears Suburbans. protects the dash but you need to replace it every once in a while. on oil, I just go to Walmart and buy the cheapest diesel oil I can find it has all the dinosaurs.

On a small engine you can get away with it since the valve springs are weak but like MN mudder said, it really helps decrease lifter and camshaft wear. But it also keeps the oil from breaking down as fast due to the heat. Pretty much all small engine branded oil and diesel oil has zinc in it and it's pretty cheap compared to your typical synthetic name brand engine oils. You can also get oil from Amsoil, Royal Purple and other big brands that are designed for race cars but expect to pay up for it.
Now if you have a vehicle with a flat tappet cam it is necessary. Again you can get away with it when you have stock valve springs and a stock cam but expect camshaft and lifter failure significantly sooner.
P.S. if you dont watch ViceGripGarage than you dont know what good sarcasm is

I gave that post a double The newer like and the old Thumbs up next to the @!
Got this turd out the other day. Fired right up after sitting for a good 4 months. I noticed it was leaking gas but it ran fine so I ignored it until I got done using it to move some stuff. Figured out it was the fuel line again, so I just went ahead and replaced all of it with some good free fuel line I got from work! (any cut off pieces less than a foot we can't sell) Also my foot throttle was hanging up too, I used a throttle cable off an old car, the cable is stranded on the inside with a plastic coating around it and then a rubber coating around the plastic. Well the plastic dry rotted on the inside and fell apart which caused it to kink up. I was going to get a bicycle cable to replace it with but the bike shop in town went out of business. For now I'll just set the throttle and go until I get around to fixing it.

Decided it was time to get ole Brutus going again! Felt bad for it since I ain't had the time or motivation to fool with it.
Put some gas in it and it wouldn't start, figured out the choke was sticking open, got it moving around freely and it fired right up.
Been meaning to do a transaxle oil change since I honestly don't think ive ever changed it since I rebuilt it.
Ewwweheheew!
That Folks is what happens when you get water in your transmission/transaxle and it mixes with the oil. Pretty nast stuff! Shame on me for not changing it, I figured it had some water in it but didnt know it was this bad.
