| Ah ok. That's sorta weird, only place I've seen so small a key on a big shaft is the woodruff key holding the crank gear on oppys(among other engines I'm sure). |

Pretty large! ![Murray CCT [pre-build] - Page 4 11191711](https://i.servimg.com/u/f62/19/56/75/89/11191711.jpg) In other news, it appears I lost my snap ring for the brake. ![Murray CCT [pre-build] - Page 4 2429134702](https://2img.net/u/2812/37/66/46/smiles/2429134702.gif) _______________________________________________ Li'l RED my original modified tractor!Forum Admin -- Chat Admin-- Facebook Page Admin ATLTF Facebook Page -- How To Upload PicturesHave a question? | Those are some pretty beefy pads, I'm kinda jealous lol. You should pick up a snapring kit, I'm sure it'll have one or two that'll fit that shaft. |

| Wow those look like automotive style pads! You could even cut a slot down the middle (short way) like car brake pads have for some cooling action. _______________________________________________ "This'll either wake you up or put you to sleep forever!"- Red Green "Whatever you do you should do right, even if it's something wrong." - Hank Hill - MTD Off-Road Build - Ford LT 110 Off-Road Build - Craftsman GT 6000 Off-Road Build - Allis B-110, 710 & 716 - Wheel Horse 655 & 953 - Case 444 - Bolens Versamatic & 1668 - Cub 106 & 124 - Ford LGT 125 & 145 - |

| All buttoned up, Torqued to 9 foot lbs. Manual says 8-10, I figured 9 was a good number. New mounting bolts. All it needs is 64oz 80w-90 and remounted to the frame. But that will require a frame clean up and repaint. I would break it down to just the subframe, but I am afraid to encroach upon that 50% mark for next year's contest! ![Murray CCT [pre-build] - Page 4 11251710](https://i.servimg.com/u/f62/19/56/75/89/11251710.jpg) ![Murray CCT [pre-build] - Page 4 11251711](https://i.servimg.com/u/f62/19/56/75/89/11251711.jpg) Fozzy locked, and pulley swapped from a 7 inch to 4.5 inch. _______________________________________________ Li'l RED my original modified tractor!Forum Admin -- Chat Admin-- Facebook Page Admin ATLTF Facebook Page -- How To Upload PicturesHave a question? | I just realized, I could disassemble the whole darn thing and still be under 50%. Looks like this may be a bit Pricey Build. Looks like I need all new idlers (3 pulleys). 2 for the double pulley clutch it already has and one for the belt twist pulley, it also already has. I was wanting to find one of the 90 degree boxes that came on some of these, but I have quickly realized 2 things since tearing into the tractor.
1, they are very expensive and I will probably stick to the belt twist. 2, those with the gear box do not have the fender brake lever that runs across the belt hole for the gearbox.
I think I will go ahead and pull the dash and front axle off and wash up the sub-frame. Nothing more than that.
Also, one oddity, the hitch plate on the rear was put on with 6 bolts, but then welded to the frame? Weird stuff. Also, lots of rivets in this thing. I also found 2 cracks in the metal on the rear fender clip that will need fixed. _______________________________________________ Li'l RED my original modified tractor!Forum Admin -- Chat Admin-- Facebook Page Admin ATLTF Facebook Page -- How To Upload PicturesHave a question? | Mine was the same way with the rear. Didn't understand why they bolted it and then welded it. I just cut it off and ground flush. _______________________________________________ |

| All right!, I figured out my brake install issue on the peerless 2300. Turns out I was missing 2 parts and had 1 extra bolt that did not belong. I was missing a nut and a sleeve. Sleeve was an easy fix by creating a new one and it was just a standard 3/8 nut. ![Murray CCT [pre-build] - Page 4 11281710](https://i.servimg.com/u/f62/19/56/75/89/11281710.jpg) _______________________________________________ Li'l RED my original modified tractor!Forum Admin -- Chat Admin-- Facebook Page Admin ATLTF Facebook Page -- How To Upload PicturesHave a question? | Just need to make 2 changes. A new belt guide and add a small pulley to handle the lower pulley so I don't throw belts. All that can be done on the pulley side mounting plate. _______________________________________________ Li'l RED my original modified tractor!Forum Admin -- Chat Admin-- Facebook Page Admin ATLTF Facebook Page -- How To Upload PicturesHave a question? | LOL, looking at my schedule for this month and half of next, I really do not see me doing much more to this thing in that time. So doing this for the build-off is very do-able (99% probable ). I do have that 3rd idler V-Pulley mounted and a belt guide on the transaxle brace done. The transaxle is ready to be bolted back to the frame which I may do sometime soon with an extra set of 12's I have in the shed. And that is all that will be done. I was contemplating a different front axle, but the one that was on it from an old craftsman is pretty strong even though it looks weak. Maybe some bracing in the future. But that will be in the build-off. _______________________________________________ Li'l RED my original modified tractor!Forum Admin -- Chat Admin-- Facebook Page Admin ATLTF Facebook Page -- How To Upload PicturesHave a question? | Trans is attached to the frame (space saving and I need my roller table back), donor tires on until I get the original wheels redone and new tires mounted. Keeping the original tires over the donors because the offset on the original wheels put the tires wider than the donors. _______________________________________________ Li'l RED my original modified tractor!Forum Admin -- Chat Admin-- Facebook Page Admin ATLTF Facebook Page -- How To Upload PicturesHave a question? | Where do you get parts for the older 2300's ? I had a very old 2300a from the 1960's or some similar model and could not find any parts for it . it was solid cast iron case but had been sitting for about 14 years and was half full of water so the bearings were all rusted out and diff was stuck along with 3 gears that were missing teeth . Ended up trashing it cause couldn't get parts or the left axle out of case to take dif out
